Our Work
Refugee Empowerment Center & Transitional Shelter
The Latina Muslim Foundation’s Non-Profit Charitable Organization With The Underlying Mission Of Providing Humanitarian Relief Services To Muslims And All Humanity.
For Refugees, Homeless & Underserved People
The Latina Muslim Foundation, a registered 501(C)(3), has been working in Tijuana Mexico serving the neediest of the region. These families consist of women who are single mothers with children, and fathers who cannot find employment and due to the lack of resources and income, many are finding themselves homeless, without food, and the basic necessities for everyday survival.
We are a Muslim Foundation that Purchased a 513.10-meter property in Tijuana, Mexico, about 10 minutes from the San Ysidro border, that serves refugees in the area to acquire shelter and learn skills that will benefit them as they adapt to the new changes in their life. The Refugee Empowerment center & Transitional shelter offers English and Spanish classes, as well as job training. Not only that, but our state of the art facility offers beds for men, women and children, daily meals, medical and legal support, and 24 hour security. We also have a local imam that teaches Quran and Islamic classes.
Providing Humanitarian Relief Services To Muslims And All Humanity
The Latina Muslim Foundation doesn’t discriminate between borders. We offer services for both our international refugees as well as our local underserved population here in San Diego. Whether refugees, immigrants, or low-income families, LMF does not turn anyone down.
Temporary Housing
We work with those refugees who are in Mexico awaiting their asylum papers to be processed and are awaiting to be admitted to the US.
All is provided free of cost until they reach their family and friends in the states. Equally important, we collaborate with other non-profit organizations to achieve this mission. We are an integral part of their transition to their new home in America.
Food Facilities
We partnered with the San Diego Food Bank in order to achieve this. We distribute on a biweekly basis food to individual and families.
These families meet the federal guidelines for food assistance. The food package consists of:
Canned goods
Dry grains
Nutritious snacks
